His work revolves around the landscape understood as the relationship between the human being and his environment, his imprint upon nature, the construction of memory and the passage of time. His work invites one to leisurely contemplation, the search for beauty within a very elaborate aesthetic of its own, which arises from his deep admiration for classical sources as a constant inspiration.

Biography

José Quintanilla lives and works in Madrid. Trained as an Art Director, he worked for years in design and direct marketing. In 2007 he created the Digigraphic Workshop in Madrid, a digital laboratory specialized in author’s work, working with principal national artists and photographers, as well as with museums, art galleries and institutions. He teaches at various photography schools.

At the same time, he developed as a visual artist, using photography as a means of expression, investigating reproduction techniques between the traditional and the digital worlds. Master PHotoEspaña 20/21.

Since 2014 he has exhibited his work in art galleries and institutions, individually and collectively, such as the Barjola Museum in Gijón, the Colegio de España in Paris or the CEART in Fuenlabrada, art fairs such as Estampa and at the PHotoEspaña 2021 festival. He won first Prize in Plastic Arts of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in France in 2016 and the special mention PHotoEspaña in the photography prize of the ENAIRE Foundation 2021.
