The exhibition ‘Unfinished’ was a project curated by Iñaqui Carnicero and Carlos Quintáns for the Spanish pavilion at the Venice International Architecture Biennale 2016. It takes a a look at unfinished architecture in order to discover virtues that can be turned into design strategies.

During the past period of economic growth in Spain construction became the main driving force behind the economy. Today we find the built presence and unfinished remains of the largest constructional undertaking in history, which left behind an awkward layout and large partially built and unconsolidated volumes.

‘Unfinished’ sets out to explore creative speculations on converting a past condition into a positive contemporary action. Curators: Iñaqui Carnicero y Carlos Quintáns (AC/E press-release)

Organised by: Acción Cultural Española, Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores y de Cooperación, Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo (AECID), Ministerio de Fomento. Dirección General de Arquitectura, Vivienda y Suelo
