Copy / Error presents a set of works developed by Pablo Barreiro (Pontevedra 1982) in two different moments (2015 – 2018) in Bassano del Grappa, Italy (artistic residency NUOVE)

In this body of work, Pablo focuses on the mechanisms of reproduction, particularly on the way western art history has used copy as a resource, both pedagogically and aesthetically, the seductive appeal of the reproducion, its meaning, and the importance that appropriation, quotation and repetition have for the Art.

Through the repetition of an image / object, and the search for conflicts between “original” and “copy”, the reading (and the meaning) of the original image is reversed. And by the time this new object is created the possibility of a “new copy”, and of new reinterpretation, is, by definition, open.
