The exhibition is the result of a residency of Santiago Ydañez. During his stay in Palermo, the artist set himself the goal of “to feed himself off of the living imagination of the city,” where the natural pre-cultural world coexists in harmony with the main theme of his pictorial universe – the religious dimension. Santiago Ydañez: Santo Animal is a site-specific project that interacts with the interior of the church of S. Eulalia and builds upon the intervention begun in the ’90s by M. Barcelò. Curated by María Jesús Martínez Silvente.

Santiago Ydanez (Jaén 1967. Spain) is one of the most established spanish artists of his generation. He was honoured by the following prizes: Premio de Pintura ABC / 2002, Premio de Pintura Generación / 2002, Caja Madrid, Beca del Colegio de España in París, Ministerio de Cultura / 2001 und den Beca de la Fundación Marcelino Botín / 1998.
