Every year, the Circulation(s) festival provides us with an overview of the vitality of a new generation of European photographers. On the programme, more than fifty series of photos and as many real or invented stories, but also events for young and old.
Jordi Ruiz Cirera presents “Los Menonos.” The Mennonite community in eastern Bolivia are Anabaptist Christians who arrived in the 1950s from Canada, Mexico and Belize. They lead the same life as their ancestors, without a car, phone or electricity.
Far from it all, they have developed a strong sense of belonging to their community. However, the influence of the modern world, its threats and temptations, is never far away and there is very little land. It could be the end of the community.
This series of portraits explores the relationships and roles of everyone in this community.
